Sarnath is a place of great historical importance. After attaining enlightenment in Bodh Gaya, Buddha traveled to Sarnath to share his teachings with five ascetics, delivering the "Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta" (the sermon on the turning of the wheel of Dharma).
